Thanks for joining us for our mini-course on Basic Litter Handling. One of the most used tools in rescue is the “basket” or litter. While these litter come on many varieties, the concept for all are the same: transportation.
Basic Litter Handling is a 5-part series serving as a preamble to a larger concept and teaching. Often, the term cliff rescue shines the light on vertical movement of a patient and attendee in a basket or litter. However, more often than not, the scenario is more of a group of people in a “carry out” and this is often the site of numerous rescue technician injuries (namely back and ankles.) This short series serves only as an illumination of a larger topic.
